Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is Veault?
Veault is a digital safe where you securely store your most important information, like passwords, documents, and personal messages. Everything is encrypted and only accessible to the people you designate.
Is this the same as a will?
No. Veault is not a legal document. It's a practical and personal tool that can exist alongside a will. You can use it to record things like your accounts, wishes, stories, and documents.
How long will my vault be kept?
That depends on the type of subscription you choose. If you go for Lifetime access, you can update and store your vault in the cloud for life. For other subscription types, your vault stays accessible online as long as your subscription is active. However, you do have the option to download your own encrypted backup, so your vault remains accessible offline. Even decades from now.
Who will have access to my information after I pass away?
Only the trusted contacts you’ve personally appointed via Veault Access. They will receive a unique access document with a secret key — so you never have to share your own password. If they ever request access, you’ll be notified immediately and can cancel it as long as you're able to respond. The vault will only unlock after confirmation in the way you've chosen. This keeps you in control until the very last moment, and ensures your loved ones know exactly what to do.
How safe is Veault?
Veault is built on a zero-knowledge model, meaning we can never view your data. Everything gets encrypted on your device before it goes to our servers. We use tried and true techniques like AES-256 encryption and PBKDF2 password strengthening to fend off brute-force attacks. This makes Veault a lot safer compared to traditional cloud storage, where your data often relies on the provider's security. Even if there's an attack on our servers or your computer, your information stays completely private and out of reach for outsiders.
